it's been a minute. again. (apparently disappearing for weeks on end is my brand now?)

i'm writing this from my new place, where 11 days ago today my cat was in emergency surgery and i was sleeping in a vet parking lot until 4am. shoutout my parents who were in town for the night and my dad who braved the wait with me.

welcome to my new chapter. it's been... a lot!

but something beautiful happened this morning. on a client call, someone from a completely different company said "i saw savvie and i'm literally rooting for you."

i beamed with the most ridiculous pride. after weeks of questioning everything — the move, pivots, beta launch prep, and life doing what life does — a stranger confirmed what i've been hoping all along: we're building something that matters. tools that actually meet women where they are.

so this week, let's talk about finding peace in the chaos (and i mean real peace, not instagram quote type of peace):

“i went down the savvie rabbit hole!”

seven words from someone who doesn't know me, but found savvie and resonated enough to tell me started investing because of it.

it made me realize that this is what our users see in savvie:

→ tools that don't make capable women feel small
→ finance without the shame spiral

what that one stranger gets that the financial industry is still missing: we don't need another budgeting app. we need someone who understands that sometimes your budget breaks because life breaks. and that's okay.

we don't need more education. well, i mean, we do. but… stay with me. maybe what we really need is just need more understanding.

forget emergency funds (though pls still have one).

you need a "life happens" fund.

emergency = car breaks down, medical bills, job loss

life happens = your cat needs surgery the day after you move. been there. your laptop dies mid-class. been there too. you need to squeeze in a therapy appointment after a particularly brutal week. am there.

end of last quarter taught me something crucial about running a consulting business: you gotta keep your head on a swivel.

translation: be open to opportunities you didn't plan or ask for.

someone asked if we could do event coverage 1 hr ½ away from home in a pinch on a weekend. i said yes, having literally no idea what that would entail. figured it out on the way.

turns out event ugc is everything brands want but can't manufacture. real moments, real reactions, real people.

first event (3 weeks ago): fumbled reaaal hard with equipment at this thing you guys. like, i sat there trying to figure out how to use the gimbal i’d just bought for ten minutes type of fumbled. i didn’t even have the app downloaded. it was a whole thing.
now (somehow): carving out a new service vertical for teague media to do event coverage for local businesses!

takeaway? it’s okay to try it out as you go. as long as you try!

last friday afternoon, the agency i strategize for needed emergency content. "we gotta rush this brief for weekend launch."

me: unshowered, no makeup, yoga pants, target tank, harsh lighting. three takes on my phone. upload to gdrive without even reviewing.

them: "we’re running these across all platforms with paid spend”

me, a mere organic social girly: "slay❤️"

but girl.

the ad is now everywhere.

my thoughts:
→ authenticity wins every single time (but like maybe mascara next time cal?)
→ the winners are always the lo-fi ones you least expect
→ my ego: still processing

if this year taught me anything, it's that perfection is overrated and overwrought. just be you and watch your CAC plummet

sitting here on my cute new couch, boxes still unpacked, cat finally healthy — and i keep thinking about that one stranger who said they’re rooting for me.
