hey friend πŸ’Œ

okay so first things first… i know this is landing in your inbox on a saturday instead of our usual friday.

it's getting chilly here and i've been moving a little slower this week but in a good way.

it’s the kind of slow that comes with reading books instead of doom scrolling, celebrating the purchasing of pilates reformers, getting excited about my sister’s 30th birthday next week + thanksgiving πŸ€ πŸ•ΊπŸŽˆ

i also did something today that i've been putting off for months now lol.

i finally hit send on the very first savvie scoop newsletter!!

i've weirdly been way more nervous about that than my client pitches, UGC campaigns, or even launching teague media in the first place.

because this one's personal! this one's the heart project πŸ’š

me telling literally anyone who will listen about savvie

in this week's letter:

  • why i've been gatekeeping my own idea (and how i got over myself)

  • unplugging to keep your brain sharp (i finally got that library card lol)

  • how to know when to build in public vs. build in private

  • how much planning goes into the tiniest execution (and why that's okay)

  • the merch drop is heeeere (and how to get it for free)

let's get into it ↓

πŸ’Έ savvie tip of the week

asking for feedback isn't weak β€” it's actually super strategic.

i've been building savvie for months now, and the entire time, i've been in my head about whether any of it actually matters to any of the people i'm building it for.

so this week, i started sending out feedback requests to the savvie community, asking them to poke around, break things, and tell me what's actually useful vs. what's just cute.

here's what i'm learning: you can't build in a vacuum and expect it to resonate.

whether it's your savings plan, your content calendar, or your whole business model… getting feedback isn't a failure. it's actually the only way you make sure you're building the right thing that people actually want.

so if you've been sitting on an idea, a draft, a prototype, or even just a question… test it. send it to 5 people. post it to your close friends story. ask the group chat.

the worst thing that happens? you get left on read or you learn something.

the best thing? you learn something (see where i’m going here?) and you build something that actually works!

this week in teague talk creator strategy

πŸ“±unplugging to keep your brain sharp

okay this might sound counterintuitive coming from someone who literally creates content for a living, but hear me out: i've been reading more lately. like, actual books!!!!

remember last week when i said i was gonna get a library card? well i actually did lmao and no ragrets

me w my kindle πŸ“š

when you’re not consuming content and not distracting with media, your brain has more space to connect dots instead of just reacting to the algorithm all day.

also me in 40 min refreshing my open rate

so here's your reminder that sometimes the best thing you can do for your content strategy is to step away from the content entirely.

read a book. go touch grass. go for a walk πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈ stare at the wall if you need to.

your brain will thank you. and your content will be better for it.

🧠 what i’m loving rn

trend: the anti-social social media era is here and it’s a bad time to be an ecommerce ugc creator😭😭 the comments are not forgiving. people are so tired of being sold to and so over the plastic. they want real people building real things and being honest about the hard parts. lean into that.

tool: this section is sponsored today, which means i have a cool newsletter rec for you + get a lil payout when you click (which helps me keep teague talk free and honestly helps fund my next iced latte πŸ’Œ).

lindy is that girl. and i actually use her, so while this is spons, we genuinely stanπŸ‘‡

also loving: my library card. sponsored by my taxes <3 no but genuinely it's giving brain food! sans the doomscroll and you can get stuff on demand…

me discovering library ecards are literally like doordash for ur brain - theres a theology section so brb going on rabbit holes i didn’t know existed πŸ°πŸ€“πŸ“š

quote: "planning is not the same as progress, but it's still part of the process."

a reminder i needed this week πŸ–ΌοΈ it's crazy how much planning goes into just a teeny bit of execution. i'm super excited about what we're building with savvie, but it gets stressful and too-big-to-handle when i get so caught in the day-to-day i can’t visualize the final product. been trying to lean into the process instead of getting frustrated with the journey.

totally random: i've been thinking about starting another anonymous newsletter. sometimes i have so many ideas it stresses me out that i won't be able to try everything before my career’s over and then i remember i'm only 24 and 2 years into my career lol and vienna waits for me and actually there is time!!!

πŸͺž updates from HQ

  • the savvie scoop is officially live. i sent out the first edition this week asking for feedback on our calculators + app prototypes. if you're not on that list yet and want early access to what we're building, all you gotta do is reply "savvie" and i'll add you!

  • you can get merch for free by sharing teague talk with your people! scroll down for details.

  • thanksgiving break incoming: i'll be mostly offline - not next week, but the following - to celebrate my sister's 30th birthday with my fam bam 🫢 teague talk still comin’ your way per usual!

  • teague media client projects: we’re launching a UGC campaign for 2 wellness brands rn πŸ‹οΈβ€β™€οΈ!! ongoing Q4 strategy sessions with our existing clients before the holiday season kicks off πŸ›΅

🎁 the merch drop you've been asking about is FINALLY here

okay so plot twist: you actually don't have to buy it 🀭

you can earn free stuff just for sharing this newsletter with your people.

i've been working on this behind the scenes for weeks + i'm so excited to finally announce the teague talk referral club now has actual merch rewards!!!!!!

here's how it works:

🀍 3 referrals = exclusive savvie tee

πŸ’ 7 referrals = teague media cherries long sleeve

πŸ’š 13 referrals = limited edition savvie hoodie

will not be restocked. when they’re gone, they’re gone 😧

your unique referral link to share πŸ‘‡

πŸ’ something i've been thinking about all week

the mile-wide gap between planning and execution (+ why that's actually a-okay)

i've been doing a lot of behind-the-scenes work for savvie lately. like, a LOT of planning, spreadsheets cataloging potential investors, figma wireframes and clickable prototypes…lots of stuff with no end product. yet.

me trying to orchestrate every single aspect of my product launch. also me thinking i couldnt weave this music man reference into my newsletter

but anyways… sometimes it feels like i'm not making "real" progress because i'm not launching something new every week.

but here's what i'm learning: execution is magnetic and shiny. planning is…really not so much.

actually, it’s quite a drag and it can become an all-consuming part of the process.

but you also literally cannot have one without the other.

so when you're caught in the day-to-day, it feels stressful because you don't really see the final product yet. but that doesn't mean nothing's happening.

it means you're building a foundation that’s thoughtful enough that it has a chance to hold once you do launch.

and it still might not. and that’s okay, too. but holding space for the β€œwhat if it goes well” is always better than shrinking into what if it goes wrong.

so if you're in a planning phase right now and it feels slow or boring or like you're not doing enough… you already are! you're just doing the invisible work that makes the visible work possible.

trust the process. even when it's not pretty. especially then 🫢

πŸ’š random personal update no one asked for

i also want a dog lmao.

or another cat for my cat. i love my girl billie so much but sometimes the hyperindependence of the feline species drives me crazy and i miss having an emotional support animal.

@calgal661

this is a cry for help!

but back to the dog thing… i fostered recently, and it was kinda an extremely horrible experience… even though i loved him😭

@calgal661

he was literally the most precious thing but the man did not want to be potty trained πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€ wonder what that legend is doing now

caption says it allπŸ‘†πŸ˜ but the man was unvaxxed at an old age, so he was never truly able to get his energy out and only could run around my 1 bedroom apartment…so i’m half traumatized half petrified of being a bad dog mom again.

so for now: no dog. just library books (talk to u never), probably more tattoos lolol and building more stuff on the internet. woooo!!!!!!

made it this far? that’s all for this week.

thanks for reading πŸ’Œ

if you've been sitting on something you're scared to share, whether it’s a project, a pivot, a question… this is your sign to send it. post it. ask the thing. the people who care about you want to see you try! screw what anyone else thinks

thanks for being here 🀍

you know the drill:

  • forward to a friend (and unlock free merch)

  • reply if you wanna chat!!! i read every single one πŸ’Œ

see you next friday πŸ’Œ
on-time… i rly hope!!

xo,
callie

p.s. β€” if you filled out the savvie feedback form, thank you. seriously. you're directly shaping what comes next and that means everything.
